National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and the National Security Advisory Board Meets at Rashtriya Raksha University

The National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval was at Rashtriya Raksha University along with the Deputy National Security Advisors Rajinder Khanna and Ambassador Vikram Misri. The National Security Advisory Board consisting of Prof. Dr. Bimal N. Patel (Also, Vice-Chancellor of RRU), Sridhar Vembu, Anshuman Tripathi, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Kulbir Krishnan and Tilak Devasher were in attendance in physical mode. Other members Devendra Sharma, Dr. K Radhakrishnan and Lt. Gen. S L Narasimhan were present virtually.
The National Security Advisor along with his team assessed the academic and research setup at the University. He attended detailed briefings of the Information Technology Labs on Geo-Intelligence Systems, OSINT, AI etc. He was also briefed about the various programmes run by the University in the domain of police administration, defence and strategic studies, maritime and coastal security, IT and AI, criminology and behavioural sciences, and international relations and strategic languages. He shared extensive feedback while congratulating the University for its success and achievements in a short duration of time since October 2020. He encouraged that, “the University should adopt an empirical research model, and develop a solutions-oriented approach to map and understand the nations’ most pressing security challenges.” He emphasized on, “developing a generation of security-oriented citizens who are empowered to take up new challenges in the domain of national security while being fully integrated in the economy.”
Thereafter, the NSA and his team undertook the National Security Advisory Board meeting behind closed doors. The NSAB meeting is a key deliberative body of the National Security Council Secretariat including experts from various domains deliberating on the contemporary and futuristic issues of national security. The NSAB meets in New Delhi regularly but, owing to the special place of Rashtriya Raksha University in the space of national security, the NSAB meeting found a congenial place in RRU to host such important deliberations.
The visiting delegation departed the University after being fully briefed about the key role Rashtriya Raksha University is and will play in the field of national security.

Rashtriya Raksha University, an Institution of National Importance of India, Pioneering National Security and Police University of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, is established by the Parliament of India, Act No. 31 of 2020. RRU was touted as the “Jewel of the Nation that is helping us strengthen the vision of Sashakt Bharat” by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On 12 March 2022, the Hon’ble Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah had expressed the desire to open Campuses across the nation. Today, RRU which is headquartered in Gandhinagar, Gujarat is opening its first Campus in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh.
The University aims to become an academic-research-training ecosystem for national security and police.  It endeavours to create a highly professional and well-trained police and security force in the nation with a carefully developed perception of reassurance to the citizen rather than a threat. RRU focusses on developing curriculum for national security, police education, research, and training through its qualified civilian and professional faculty, committed human resources, motivated participants and students. RRU offers an intellectually stimulating and professionally disciplined environment, and a world-wide network for knowledge sharing and exchange.
It aims at providing education in contemporary and futuristic security and strategic studies with an interdisciplinary perspective. The University contributes to the vision of India of peace and prosperity in a stable world in alliance with grand strategic cooperation between like-minded nations. The RRU mandate is geared at promoting greater understanding between internal security officers, military and paramilitary forces, diplomats, civil servants, and civilians to further the cause of the Nation.
It adopts a two-tier approach, at the national and international level, in its education, research, training, and extension activities to be able to respond to the needs, expectations, and aspirations of its key stakeholders in the security and strategic community including legislative, judicial, economic, governance and the civil society counterparts.
